CM Punk as a heel in AEW could make for some interesting storytelling down the line. He has always been a creative genius for elevating his character from time to time. Some of his successful years in WWE came when The Straight Edge Superstar portrayed a heel role.
Punk could distract the referee, use weapons, be it a chair or take a knuckle out of his pocket to take Darby Allin down. However, CM Punk neither has to be a heel nor a babyface in AEW. Given that he's wrestling after a gap of almost seven years, the former WWE superstar will be hell-bent on picking up his first victory since 2014.

At his age, CM Punk could play the role of a tweener. Such a screwy finish would act as a momentum-builder for his character. It may even give us chapter two between Darby Allin and CM Punk at AEW Full Gear.

If we take aside all the unexpected swerves discussed before, the company could simply have a clean finish with CM Punk winning the match after Darby Allin pushes him to his limit.
Both men could lay their entire arsenal on display and tear the house down in an impressive action-packed contest. Given this is a first-time encounter, it doesn't necessarily have to be a shocking finish.
AEW Star CM Punk could deliver his thunderous 'Go To Sleep' maneuver at the end to seal the victory. The Straight Edge Superstar could even put Darby Allin over by raising his hand after the match. It would be a fitting way to close their one-off feud then and there.
