#2 Darby Allin become the new TNT Champion by defeating Cody Rhodes at Full Gear

At Full Gear, Cody Rhodes is set to defend the TNT Championship against Darby Allin.

Cody and Allin have met before at Fyter Fest 2019. This breakout performance for the young star went to a time limit draw. Since then Allin has become a fan favorite with AEW and one of its future stars.

He has taken prominent positions such as his AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxley. Allin was unsuccessful in that match but once again proved that he is worthy of title opportunities. Now, he has a chance to win his first piece of gold with AEW when he faces Cody at Full Gear.

Cody made the TNT Championship the company's “workhorse” title through his tireless performances every week. Ever since Cody became the inaugural TNT champion, he issued an open challenge to the AEW locker room. Talent such as Warhorse, Ricky Starks, and Eddie Kingston answered the call to challenge the newly formed title giving it a fresh and exciting vibe.

Darby Allin could win his first title at Full Gear

Darby Allin is just the type of wrestler that the TNT Championship was created for. Similar to the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the TNT title is AEW’s midcard championship and a stepping stone to that coveted main event spot.

Cody has been an excellent TNT Champion, who has made it an important and worthy title. It now has the prestige to be the title that not only creates but solidifies the next generation of AEW stars. Darby Allin is most certainly that.
