5 Reasons why Chris Jericho should turn heel

3. As a heel, Jericho beat both "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Rock in one night

Chris Jericho was WWE's first-ever Undisputed World Champion. A title he received after defeating both The Rock and Steve Austin in 2001. The star received help in the form of interference from both Vince McMahon and Booker T during the encounter.

In hindsight, some fans might see his win as illegitimate, but that's precisely why he was hated. Jericho strutted around with two title belts and became the face of the company - ironically - while being a heel.

2. Jericho's "suit and tie" persona was one of his greatest heel runs in WWE

Shortly after losing his WWE Heavyweight Championship, Jericho entered both the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chambers to regain the title. The star failed at both attempts, resulting in feuds against Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper.

Jericho would even feud with Hollywood star Mickie Rourke during this time. He'd end up in a handicap match against the legends while picking up the win. The star was shockingly knocked out by Rouke after his match.

Chris Jericho's suit and tie persona was a far more serious heel character. Until this point, Jericho only had humourous heel gimmicks. The character shift introduced fans to a menacing Y2J.

1. Chris Jericho's first AEW run as a heel was well-received

Chris Jericho's initial run in AEW came as a heel. Before the Inner Circle became a band of good guys, they were very much like a gang of villains. Jericho led the group with his prize belt and put AEW on the map by becoming the first Champion.

Returning to his heel persona would remind fans of his first appearances and could be used to tease a rise back to the top. He is the inaugural AEW Champion, and could likely end up being the first two-time Champion as well by being a heel.
