#2 CM Punk has an unbeaten record in AEW
So far, CM Punk has been on a dream run in AEW. Even after facing the best wrestlers on Tony Khan's roster, the second city saint has managed to stay undefeated. While unbeaten streaks like this are nothing new in wrestling promotions, they serve an important function. These streaks are eventually broken to set up new wrestlers as formidable contenders.
However, there seems to be a reasonable argument that MJF is simply not the right person to warrant the honor of ending Punk's unbeaten streak. While MJF has shown a lot of potential both on the mic and inside the ring, there are a multitude of other ways to build the homegrown superstar.
The Second City Saint sacrificing his unbeaten streak for MJF just does not make sense at this point.
CM Punk would definitely like to hold on to his undefeated streak in AEW for as long as possible. When the time comes, Tony Khan can use Punk as a springboard to launch a potential big player on the All Elite roster as a future investment.
#1 CM Punk is a big enough draw to take down MJF convincingly
Be it by fair play or foul, MJF has managed to pull a lot of upsets in matches against AEW's big shots. The most notable among these wins was his shady victory over Darby Allin last year, where he used his Dynamite Diamond ring to knock down Darby and pin him.
These victories have allowed MJF to build himself up as one of the most prominent heels in AEW. However, CM Punk entering the scene to feud with Maxwell might spell disaster for the latter. Punk is definitely one of the biggest names in AEW currently, and a big enough star to take down the Salt of the Earth.
It is worth noting that CM punk is a babyface right now, which implies that a win over MJF will definitely not come through any unfair means. This might be a rare opportunity for an AEW star to finally take down the talkative Maxwell convincingly.
