Despite being a fairly popular name in AEW, Danhausen has not been seen in the promotion in almost a year. This has not been due to any underlying health issues, as he has been perfectly healthy for some time.
He returned to the promotion in late 2023 after missing some time due to a pectoral injury, but he only ended up competing in two matches for the company. He has not been seen since his brief appearances on AEW Worlds End in December last year.
Recent reports indicate that his contract with AEW is set to conclude in the Summer of 2025. If Tony Khan does not renew it, Danhausen could end up with WWE. Here are a few reasons why Danhausen should go this path.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
#1. Lack of creative plans in AEW
As previously mentioned, the Very Nice, Very Evil star is not currently dealing with any injuries. While away from the company, he has frequently competed in the independent circuit.
Fightful Select reported that the two sides have not been able to be on the same page regarding his booking. Despite having some time left on his contract, there are currently no creative plans in place for Danhausen.
#2. He has kept a close relationship with CM Punk
Despite never appearing together onscreen, one of Danhausen's closest friends is CM Punk. The two have kept a playful friendship, even during Punk's time with AEW.
With The Straight Edge Superstar now being signed with WWE, this has not affected their friendship. They have constantly continued their friendly banter online and have even run into each other at events. A few months ago, they even had a brief interaction at San Diego Comic-Con.
CM Punk could be part of the reason Danhausen could jump ship. He could vouch for him and push for the company to sign him.
#3. His impact on merchandise selling could warrant an offer from WWE
For two straight years now, the face-painted star has cemented his place on the promotion as one of the more popular stars, despite his character being more of a comic relief than a dominant star.
This has shown in merchandise sales, as according to Pro Wrestling Tees, he has remained at the top of the top-selling stars on their website. It was mentioned that in 2022, he took the top spot, beating CM Punk.
In the 2023 edition of the list, he was placed fourth overall, beating stars like Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. He fell short to Punk, who remained at the top of the list that year. His ability to move merchandise could be a great selling point and something that will keep WWE's interest in him.
#4. No one in NXT or WWE has a similar gimmick to him
WWE has had its fair share of spooky personas over the years. Currently, they have The Wyatt Sicks as the ones currently having that role. Interestingly, they have never had someone like Danhausen, a spooky fellow who is a comic relief.
Should they sign him to the company, they could bring him to NXT. On the brand, no one has anything close to his gimmick, and he could quickly grab the attention of the fans. He could keep up his unserious gimmick, along with his ability to "curse" wrestlers. This would make for an entertaining feud between himself and anyone on the roster.
#5. The matches Danhausen could have in NXT and WWE
One thing Danhausen could want to experience is new competition. He has been with AEW since 2022 and has had his fair share of competition in the promotion.
He has gotten the chance to compete against others on the independent circuit but has yet to find himself in the WWE landscape. Should he sign with the company, there is endless talent available for him to face, and with the promotion looking to bring in more talent with the WWE ID Program, this could be his ticket to facing more names.
The NXT roster alone has a great set of names for him to share the ring with, and as time passes, more and more superstars could join the brand.
Signing with WWE could be an interesting career move for Danhausen and could help skyrocket his popularity in the industry. With him not being booked for anything in AEW, this could be what pushes him to jump ship.
