#1 Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page for the AEW Championship is the match AEW has been building towards for months

Yes, many would say Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page has already taken place and that it's no longer a dream match. However, the bout the two had at AEW Full Gear 2020 was just a minor entry into the larger narrative AEW has been telling for almost a year.

When Hangman Page and Chris Jericho squared off to determine the first-ever AEW Champion, many had expected Page to become the champion. His loss in the match hampered his momentum, and he fell down the card. Similarly, Kenny Omega also lost many of his clashes that led to fans questioning his abilities.

Page and Omega, both dealing with failure, decided to form a tag team. The two achieved immense success in the division, and they even became the AEW Tag Team Champions in the process. However, once they lost the titles to FTR, Omega achieved success as a singles competitor by turning heel, while Page continued to struggle in the mid-card.

AEW is heading towards the eventual goal of Hangman Page defeating Omega to become the AEW Champion. This would fulfill the faith that fans and the management had in Page since day one.

It's arguably the best wrestling storyline of the last few years, and it could only reach its logical conclusion if Kenny Omega remains the champion for the foreseeable future.
