2. CM Punk has nothing to gain out of defeating MJF
CM Punk is a five-time WWE Champion and the 19th WWE Triple Crown Champion. The Chicago-born wrestler has also won numerous awards alongside multiple championship belts. Not to mention the length of his career, which clocks in around 16 years (minus his seven year hiatus).
At this stage, a win over Friedman would do little to bolster his career. Punk has achieved so much already, and at this point should be giving deserving wrestlers a high profile win instead of burying them.
While a run as AEW Champion could benefit Punk, right now fans are slowly starting to lose interest. Cheers for the Best in the World have slowly begun to quiet down. A shocking defeat would be exactly what is needed to wake fans up.
1. Defeating CM Punk will give MJF another victory over a legend
Love him or hate him, MJF is a breakout talent and the future of professional wrestling. Wrestling is not just about matches, but about all the characters we love and those we love to hate as well.
Friedman has successfully cracked the code to being a great heel in wrestling. While the young star does possess impressive in-ring skills, he still runs away from one too many fights.
At 25, he also has far more to gain out of defeating Punk than losing to him. Even if the crowd ends up booing the result, coming out victorious would solidify Friedman's future as a star.
