#4. Could we see CM Punk turn heel in AEW?
CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston at AEW Full Gear 2021 was the most anticipated clash for many people. Despite the build-up lasting just a few weeks, exceptional promo and character work from both men propelled this feud to the very top of the card.
The Mad King did the impossible by getting CM Punk booed during their promo segment on AEW Rampage. The trend continued at Full Gear, as a crowd firmly behind Eddie Kingston booed the Second City Saint at times.
John Cena's last PPV's name revealed by Kurt Angle? More details HERE
A month back, it would've sounded ridiculous that the biggest star in AEW would be booed, but that is the magic of Eddie Kingston. Interestingly, when CM Punk had Eddie Kingston reeling, the crowd booed him which seemed to spur the former WWE champion on. The louder the boos, the harder he hit.
At one point, the Voice of the Voiceless gave a pretty blatant tribute to John Cena by executing his traditional moveset. John Cena, towards the latter stages of his full-time run, was booed pretty vigorously.
With all these antics, could we have seen the beginning of a heel turn for CM Punk? Only time will tell.
#3. AEW values its women's division highly
Full Gear witnessed a women's tag team match during the buy-in and a match for the AEW Women's Championship between Britt Baker and Tay Conti during the main show.
The two women got over 15 minutes to produce a great match, that elevated the Brazilian star despite her loss. Women wrestlers in North America aren't given such a long time to wrestle and the fact that Britt and Tay got that shows AEW's faith in their top women holding the audience's attention.
Couple that with AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam being the main event by Ruby Soho and Britt Baker as well as a secondary women's championship, AEW is on the right path to make their women's division infinitely better than it was two years ago.
