Most of Mahal and Moxley's matches were tag team ones, in which the latter was always on the victorious side. However, the two went head-to-head once nearly three years ago.
Moxley and Jinder Mahal went one-on-one on the August 27 episode of Monday Night RAW in 2018. Although The Modern Day Maharaja gave in a big fight, The Lunatic Fringe successfully hit the Dirty Deeds to end the match in his favor.

Following that match, the two former WWE Champions never shared the ring again. While Moxley left WWE to join AEW in 2019, Mahal suffered a few injuries that took him out of action for several months.
The Modern Day Maharaja recently returned to WWE to feud with his former friend and 3MB teammate Drew McIntyre. The rivalry between Mahal and The Scottish Warrior came to a head at the 2021 SummerSlam. Mahal suffered a painful defeat against McIntyre.
Last Monday, Jinder Mahal suffered another defeat against Mansoor. The former WWE champion was disqualified after refusing to stop stomping his opponent down in the corner.
