#4. Is CM Punk's character going to change in AEW down the line?
Bryan Danielson is a full-fledged babyface in AEW, and right now, CM Punk is arguably the biggest fan favorite on the roster. Throughout the show, the crowd chanted for Punk. AEW even had the Chicago native come out first on Dynamite, although he eventually ended up going to the table to join Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur.
CM Punk's name was chanted throughout the show, and we were a bit surprised that no member of Team Taz came out to interfere. Punk had his first TV match in over 7-and-a-half years this past week on AEW Rampage when he defeated Powerhouse Hobbs in a good match.
However, Punk's role on commentary was interesting. While he was a babyface, there were moments when he justified Kenny Omega's cowardly tactics, saying that it was something that the World Champion "needed" to do.
He praised the babyfaces as well and couldn't deny the aura of Adam Cole. However, this was a subtle insight into his character from the commentary desk. If anything, it revealed that a CM Punk heel turn is a possibility in AEW down the line, perhaps once the luster and aura of his return to wrestling is fully gone.
