#3. AEW star Brian Pillman Jr. is the son of a late WWE Superstar
Brian Pillman Jr. competed on the independent circuit for a few years before joining AEW. He teamed up with Griff Garrison to form The Varsity Blondes.
Many fans believe the AEW star has what it takes to become a future superstar. What many may not know is that he is the son of a former WWE Superstar.
Brian Pillman Jr. is the son of the late Brian Pillman who competed for WWE for a short time. He competed for WCW, ECW, and WWE for a few years before tragically passing away on October 5, 1997. Pillman was scheduled to wrestle Goldust at WWE In Your House 18: Badd Blood the day he was found dead. He was 35 years old at the time.
Brian has followed in his father’s footsteps and become a professional wrestler. Speaking on the 411 Interview Podcast, Brian revealed that at first he thought his father’s death was part of a WWE storyline.
He also revealed that there’s a lot of pressure on him to live up to his father’s level.
“Yeah, there’s definitely a lot of pressure. And there’s a lot of situations that are presented to you that may not even be fitting for you or your character, but are kind of pressed on you in a certain capacity. And we’ve learned that the hard way with certain promotions that have tried to book me in certain ways. And eventually, my true character showed, and my career is going a lot smoother as far as making my own name for myself.”
AEW is serving as a good platform for the late WWE Superstar’s son. Brian Pillman Jr. will hopefully become a breakout star and head to the top of AEW in the years to come.
