AEW Star Shawn Spears is married to former WWE Superstar Peyton Royce

AEW star Shawn Spears has had two stints in WWE. He signed his first contract in 2006 and spent two years in developmental before getting called up to the main roster in 2008. The 40-year-old debuted on ECW in August but was released less than six months later.

After fighting for a few years on the independent circuit, Spears returned to the company in 2013 to join NXT. He spent nearly four years on the Black and Gold brand before moving to SmackDown. The current AEW star spent two years on the Blue brand but failed to win any titles. In February 2019, WWE granted him his release due to his request. A few months later, he joined All Elite Wrestling.

Although Spears did not find the success he desired in Vince McMahon's promotion, he found something else, love. The 40-year-old is married to former WWE Superstar Peyton Royce.

Royce has had more success in the company than her husband. The Australian wrestler is a former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion. However, she was released among several other talents in April 2021.

Following her release from WWE, Royce was spotted at AEW Double or Nothing in May. Spears also recently spoke about the possibility of his wife joining him in AEW.

"Why would I not want my wife working there? Not only do I feel it’d be great to see her on a weekly basis with me, but what her and Jess (Billie Kay) can offer our women’s division and the entertainment world as a whole is just second to none," said Spears.

Royce could not join All Elite Wrestling or any other company directly following her release because her contract had a non-compete clause. However, the clause expired a few weeks ago, and she is now free to join whatever promotion she desires.
