The next match on AEW saw old rivals Sammy Guevara and Shawn Spears face off in singles action.

Shawn Spears attacked Sammy Guevara from behind as he was making his entrance. The match continued at ringside with Spears throwing Guevara into the steel steps. Tully Blanchard helped Shawn Spears hit Sammy with an assisted Piledriver out on the floor, forcing the referee to toss Tully out.

The match continued inside the ring, and Shawn Spears was firmly in control. Guevara hit back with an enziguri as Spears was busy talking trash to Sammy's fiance Pam, who was at ringside. Sammy went for a cutter but missed, and both men started trading chops.

Back from the break, we saw one of the security rails set up against the AEW ring. Sammy Guevara met Shawn Spears on the top rope and hit the Canadian Destroyer. Spears kicked out at two. Sammy wasn't deterred and signaled that he was ready to finish the match off. Spears countered and hit an Avalanche C4 from the top rope, getting a near fall of his own.

Both men brawled on the apron before AEW's Spanish God hit Spears with a Death Valley Driver through the security rail. Sammy rolled Spears into the ring and headed to the top rope, hitting a 630 but only getting himself a near fall. Guevara then rolled down his kneepad and hit Spears with a series of knee strikes, following it up with the GTH, and that was enough to put Spears away.
