#1 Cody Rhodes explains why he mocked Triple H at AEW Double or Nothing in 2019
AEW star Cody Rhodes recently turned back the clock to talk about impersonating Triple H's entrance during the Double or Nothing event in 2019.
WWE legend Triple H has made some memorable entrances at WrestleMania over the years, with him being dressed as a king and sitting on a throne being the unforgettable one.
During AEW's inaugural Double or Nothing event, Cody Rhodes impersonated the same entrance and hammered the throne to send a chilling message to Triple H. Fans in attendance acknowledged the jibe taken by the American Nightmare.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, AEW star Cody Rhodes discussed numerous topics, most notably why he wanted to recreate the same entrance that Triple H used to make back in the day. Rhodes stated that hammering his throne was his way of sending a message to WWE that they're here to fight the global juggernaut. He added that the moment will always be his favorite and the fact that fans loved every inch of it:
"I wanted to go in and let them know I am willing to fight," said Rhodes. "I am willing to openly smash this iconic symbol, and what it stood for and stands for to some fans. Yeah, there’s so much to that moment. That may be my favourite moment. The match was one thing, but that was something that . . . I hear this a lot in wrestling school and it blows my mind. People will be like, “Well, the match . . .” They talk about matches with the sound off. “Like, well, it’s different with the sound off.”
Cody Rhodes stated that he would never regret doing this as everyone backstage that night knew he was going to pull this swerve to send a message on behalf of AEW.
