Welcome to the January 01, 2025 edition of the AEW news roundup. In today's edition, we'll briefly cover some trending topics like a major star getting hospitalized, Tony Khan signing a new star for his company, Adam Copeland's future, and more.

#5 AEW star got hospitalized, was pulled from a show

Bulk Bronson and his Bear Country tag team partner Beefcake were supposed to wrestle at Beyond Wrestling's Heavy Lies the Crown event in Worcester, MA. However, he informed his fans through X (Twitter) that he wouldn't be present at the event.

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

He disclosed via X that he'd been dealing with back issues for years, which got worse after he helped his parents move commercial refrigerators a few days ago. He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors found out that he had four herniated discs. Therefore, he was pulled from the Heavy Lies the Crown event.

#4 Why were The Young Bucks absent from AEW Worlds End 2024?

The Young Bucks lost their AEW World Tag Team Championships to Private Party at Fright Night Dynamite last year. After losing the gold, they walked away from the company, claiming to work from home. They were not even present at Worlds End 2024.

Many fans believe that The EVPs were absent from the event because they were scared to confront Jon Moxley and The Death Riders. However, in a recent interview with Tunnel Talk, The Jackson Brothers revealed that they were absent because they wanted to spend the holidays with their family.

“It has been nice, I have to admit. The family, the kids [in particular], they love this time of year because they know Daddy’s home for at least four to six weeks,” said Nick Jackson.

Matt Jackson continued:

"We’ve spent so many years just missing so many things, especially the build up to the holidays with the decorating and the shopping, so it’s been fun to actually be so involved in that stuff again... Unfortunately, we’ve had to miss a few AEW shows because of it but it’s been great. We are at that point in our career too where it’s like, ‘they can have a couple of shows without us.’

#3 Keith Lee spotted for the first time in months amid AEW absence

Keith Lee has been absent from AEW for a year. He is currently on a hiatus due to health issues and hasn't been cleared to wrestle yet. Amidst his absence from the Jacksonville-based promotion, he was spotted in a photograph on social media.

WWE star and his wife, Michin, posted a picture of herself with The Limitless One and their dog on New Year's Eve. The All Elite star appeared to be in great shape in the photo.

#2 Adam Copeland's future plans

Adam Copeland was out of action since Double or Nothing 2024 after sustaining a broken tibia at the PPV. He returned to action at Worlds End last month and confronted The Death Riders.

During a new interview with Uproxx, he talked about his retirement plans. He stated that he still has one-and-a-half or two years of fighting left in his body.

“There’s still some really fun stories to be explored that will probably eat up a year and a half, two years, and then I think it’s going to be time. But again, I can’t sit there and dwell on it. I have to focus on each time I’m in that ring and go, here I am. You’ve got to be in the present. Otherwise, bad things can happen, but also being in the present, I soak it all in, I enjoy it all instead of getting too far forward.”

#1 Tony Khan signs indie star Viva Van

Indie star Viva Van recently took to X (Twitter) to reveal that she is All Elite. She also shared a video unboxing a package she received from Tony Khan upon signing with the promotion. AEW gifted her a cap, a hoodie, and a t-shirt. All the items had the company's logo printed on them.

The Hell-Bent Vixen is a student of WWE veteran Rikishi. She trained at the Hall of Famer's wrestling school, KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy.

She has worked with top companies like GCW, DEFY, and NJPW and also worked some matches for AEW.
