Welcome to the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News & Rumor Roundup. Today, we will take a look at a huge announcement regarding an All Elite Wrestling program and also talk about a former titleholder.
In addition, there is an unfortunate update on Bandido, and Bobby Lashley's All Elite signing was called a waste by a legend. So, without further ado, let's begin.
#4. AEW star Will Ospreay sends a heartwarming message
Will Ospreay is a participant in the ongoing Continental Classic. He is a former AEW International Champion and an invaluable asset to Tony Khan.
A few hours ago, The Aerial Assassin announced on X (fka Twitter) that he was heading to England to be with his family during the holiday season. Additionally, he sent holiday greetings to the company's backstage staff and thanked Tony Khan for his support.
"And just like that I’m heading home to my family in England. I wanna take this opportunity to thank everyone in AEW’s crew, production, hair stylists, trainers, doctors, coaches & everyone that works hard behind the curtain to make everyone tick over (...) And lastly thank you so much to @TonyKhan. Your kindness is something that we all love about you. You’ve changed so many people’s life and without you, we all wouldn’t be able to feed our families and provide comfort to them. I flipping love @AEW. Happy holidays guys," he wrote.
#3. Tony Khan announced that AEW Rampage will be off
On the December 22 holiday taping of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan shockingly announced that Rampage would go off "for the foreseeable future." The final episode of the program will be telecast on Friday, December 27th.
Rampage premiered on August 13, 2021. Perhaps the show's most iconic episode was 'The First Dance,' because, during that, CM made his All Elite Wrestling debut. He left the company in 2023 and is currently a WWE star.
#2. Vince Russo unhappy with Bobby Lashley's booking
Bobby Lashley made his All Elite Wrestling debut earlier this year. He is a member of the dominant faction, The Hurt Syndicate, which, apart from him, includes MVP and Shelton Benjamin. At Full Gear, he locked horns with Swerve Strickland and defeated him.
Interestingly, according to the legendary Vince Russo, Tony Khan is not using the former WWE Champion well. On a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, he stated that The Almighty was signed simply because he is popular.
"Bro you're bringing in Bobby Lashley. So who do you see Bobby Lashley working with? that roster has to work together so that's the thing man it's almost like Tony's bringing in Bobby Lashley for the sake of bringing in Bobby Lashley." said Russo.
#1. Bandido has got a concussion
Bandido had been out of action for a long time due to injury. He made his comeback at the ROH Final Battle and exchanged blows with The Learning Tree. Unfortunately, during this segment, he injured his head.
Bandido performed a missile dropkick on Chris Jericho and landed awkwardly. Fans were worried about the 29-year-old after this. Sadly, their worry was justified because the Mexican native got concussed while performing this move.
