Welcome to another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News and Rumor roundup. Today we're going to look at stories involving WWE legends and top stars such as Adam Copeland, Jon Moxley, and more.

Jeff Jarrett has also announced his retirement tour for one last ride in Tony Khan's wrestling promotion. A popular star has become a free agent and is seemingly heading to All Elite Wrestling. So, without any further ado, let's dive into all of these stories.

#5. Jeff Jarrett has announced his retirement tour

Jeff Jarrett came out on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite to officially announce his retirement. The Last Outlaw would remind everyone about his family's legacy in the wrestling business.

Even though Jarrett recently re-signed with All Elite Wrestling, he stated that it would be his final run before he retires. The former also added that he will be looking to win World Title gold in the company for one last ride before he finally hangs up his wrestling boots.

Double J would then enroll himself in the casino gauntlet battle royal match next week that guarantees the winner a shot at the AEW World Championship.

#4. Karrion Kross revealed Jon Moxley personally gave him Triple H's number and urged him to join WWE

Karrion Kross joined WWE as part of the NXT roster back in 2020. The former NXT Champion has come a long way since then and punishes his rivals over on Monday Night RAW.

Karrion Kross recently opened up about how he got the job in WWE on the Notsam Wrestling podcast. He would state that it was none other than Jon Moxley who would hand him Triple H's number and urge him to call WWE's Chief Content Officer. Kross would then text The King of Kings and then end up over in NXT a few months later:

"After the show, he basically says, 'Listen, I'm not telling you where to go or where to make money. I'm just saying, you really should call Triple H. You could make a very very good living there. Work wherever you want. Go wherever you want. I just have a feeling that if you call him, things are going to be good for you.' 'What do you mean just call Triple H?' 'Just call him. Just call him. I'm giving you his number. I want you to call him.' I sent him a text. He calls me. 'Is this really Killer Kross?' We talk and a few months later, I was in NXT. That's kind of how it happened. Everything just aligned. I was getting messages from every direction of the universe to go to WWE." [H/T: Fightful]

#3. AEW changed Adam Copeland's name

Adam Copeland is one of the biggest stars working under Tony Khan's wrestling promotion right now. The 11-time WWE Champion made a thunderous return on World's End 2024 alongside FTR to go after Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.

In the most recent episode of Dynamite on January 1, 2025, FTR and Moxley would take on The Death Riders' Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli. Copeland would come out to huge applause from the fans but then be announced by Justin Roberts with a different ring name.

The former Edge was announced as "The Rated-R Superstar" Cope, with the wrestling promotion seemingly cutting down his real name.

#2. A popular star is now officially a free agent and heading to AEW

"Speedball" Mike Bailey is ready to move to the next chapter of his professional wrestling career. He has made a name for himself working with DDT Pro Wrestling as well as TNA Wrestling but is now focused on elevating himself further.

Mike Bailey has been absent from the ring ever since he dropped the X Division Championship to Moose on the November 7th episode of IMPACT. According to a report from Fightful, Mike Bailey is no longer under contract with TNA, on January 1, 2025, and is now officially a free agent.

It has been further reported that the three-time X Division Champion is looking to make his debut in AEW imminently.

#1. Adam Copeland recalls his last conversation with John Cena

Adam Copeland has officially commented on whether he would like to face John Cena in the latter's upcoming retirement tour. The Rated-R Superstar and The Leader of Cenation have a storied history with one another, with the two stars being the fiercest of rivals in WWE during the Ruthless Aggression era.

Both legends have fought on several different occasions against each other in their prime. Copeland was asked if he's spoken with John Cena about his retirement tour during a ScreenRant interview. He said that even though they didn't speak about the topic of retirement they had talked briefly:

"No, but we had talked briefly when he came back there, and I was with WWE, and he said, 'How are you doing this, man? You're having half an hour matches and stuff.' We haven't talked about retiring or anything like that. John is a very... He's thought this through. He's thought of every scenario and every conceivable direction and all of those things. He's an intelligent man, so, I'm sure he has already come to terms and I think he's been coming to terms with it for a long time. I think it'll be harder for the fan base to come to terms, which usually ends up being the case," said the former Edge.

John Cena's retirement tour is set to kick off on RAW's Netflix debut next week.
