#1 CM Punk's music hits at AEW Rampage: The First Dance but someone else appears
Speculation has been rife for a number of weeks now that this week's AEW Rampage could be special. It was first reported by Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful that CM Punk was looking to set out to make a return to professional wrestling.
Of course, WWE wasn't his likely destination due to their strained relationship. AEW was touted as the likely destination, with AEW Rampage: The First Dance being held in Punk's hometown tonight. It's the perfect environment for the debut for the Voice of the Voiceless.
But what if his music hit, and someone else came out instead? Imagine Cult of Personality blaring out, the fans going wild, and someone like MJF walks out instead to the anger of the AEW fans.
MJF could claim he is the 'Best in the World' and answer the challenge set by Darby Allin. Maybe then following the match, Punk could appear and take down the overly-annoying Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
AEW themselves have made references to Punk in their television programming, with Darby Allin mentioning the Best in the World nickname that is held by the former WWE Champion. Even WWE has got in on the action, with John Cena referencing CM Punk last Friday on Friday Night Smackdown.
The likelihood of CM Punk appearing on AEW Rampage: The First Dance is extremely high, though. After a seven year absence from the ring, it looks as though we will finally get one of our heroes back.
There's no doubt his hometown fans in Chicago would blow the roof off the United Center if his music was to hit and he was to confront Darby Allin. It would be a moment to savor, and one that could change the landscape of the whole of professional wrestling.
On the other hand, should it be MJF that walks out to Cult of Personality, you can almost guarantee that the Salt of the Earth will garner nuclear heat from the Chicago faithful. Rest assured, there will be pandamonium at the United Center come The First Dance.
All eyes will be on AEW Rampage tonight, that's for sure.
