Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson may lose the Owen Hart Cup finals on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite because of his former rival. Danielson's long-time adversary may get physical after over 12 years, costing him a potential win.

Bryan Danielson is set to square off against 'Hangman' Adam Page in the Men's Owen Hart Cup finals on Wednesday. The American Dragon defeated Shingo Takagi and PAC in the first two rounds to reach the finals. Nigel McGuinness may not be pleased with Danielson's recent triumphs, and he may decide to interfere in the high-stakes match on Dynamite.

McGuinness retired from in-ring competition in December 2011. He has since not engaged in any physical interactions inside the ring. The veteran is currently signed to AEW as a color commentator.

Nigel McGuinness has been rumored to come out of retirement and wrestle his former ROH rival, Bryan Danielson. Many speculate that the much-awaited match could take place at All In 2024 on the 48-year-old's home turf.

Danielson needs to lose the Owen Hart Cup finals against Adam Page to possibly wrestle Nigel McGuinness at All In. Hence, the AEW commentator may very well interfere in The American Dragon's match and cost him the chance to challenge for the World Title by attacking him on Wednesday's Dynamite.

The interference could lead to an eventual match between Danielson and McGuinness at Wembley Stadium. The 48-year-old often takes shots at his long-time rival while on commentary, hinting at facing him inside the ring one more time.

Bryan Danielson on not wanting to be the AEW World Champion

Bryan Danielson made his AEW debut in 2021 but has yet to secure the World Championship in the promotion.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, The American Dragon revealed why he didn't want to be a world champion at this point in his career.

“I don’t want to be in that position–I don’t feel like that’s my position anymore. The quality of wrestling in AEW is so high, it’s really hard to main event pay-per-views. That’s not something my body can really do anymore. I know there are a percentage of fans who would like that, but I don’t think it’s my place."

If The American Dragon manages to win the Owen Hart Cup finals on Wednesday, he will challenge the AEW World Champion at All In 2024. It remains to be seen which star reigns supreme on Dynamite.
