Buddy Matthews has been a part of the House of Black since February 2022. But fans could soon see him ditching Malakai Black to join Will Ospreay's United Empire, which has been active since 2020.

The United Empire consists of many wrestlers from different promotions, including NJPW, AEW, ROH, and CMLL. Will Opsreay and T.J. Perkins are the leaders of the faction. This week, Buddy Matthews and Ospreay locked horns in the opening bout of Dynamite. The Aerial Assassin emerged victorious and later endorsed Matthews and Brody King.

Ospreay said Matthews didn't need the House of Black or a leader (i.e., Malakai Black) to be successful. They even shook hands in the middle of the ring before going backstage. The two stars acknowledging each other after their match could be a sign that they might soon join forces in AEW.

The former WWE star has been seeking a singles push for a long time. Parting ways with the House of Black and aligning with Ospreay might present Matthews with the opportunity to do so.

Malakai Black, who is the leader of House of Black, is reportedly finishing up with AEW soon. Hence, his faction's future may be in jeopardy.

Buddy Matthews' response to Will Ospreay's acknowledgment on Dynamite

After this week's Dynamite went off the air, Buddy Matthews addressed Will Opsreay endorsing him following their match. He appreciated Ospreay's friendly gesture towards him.

"2024 is in the books. 2025 is the now, and it's upon us, and I didn't start my 2025 the way I was hoping. Especially leading to Grand Slam in Australia next month, but for years, Will's heard my name, and for years, I've heard Will's. Tonight, these names came together, and Will, even though you put a hiccup in my 2025, your words tonight didn't go to deaf ears," Matthews said in a backstage promo.

The promo might be another subtle tease that Matthews might part ways with the House of Black and join forces with Will Ospreay.
