Since joining AEW in 2022, Buddy Matthews has been rolling with the House of Black. The group has not had a great last few months, and they could look to make changes to better their fortunes. With Julia Hart potentially returning soon, could she push for the group to move on from Matthews?
The Princess of the Black Throne has recently revealed that she was ready to return. She claimed that she was waiting to be called back by the promotion and that this could happen at any moment now. Hart has not been seen since Dynasty in April when she lost her TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale.
Next week on AEW Dynamite, Buddy Matthews has challenged Adam Cole to a singles match. Should he end up losing, this would be yet another failed attempt by the group at gaining momentum. With Julia Hart back, they could reconvene to discuss their future. This could result in the faction deciding to give Buddy the boot, forcing him out of the group.
Malakai Black and Brody King are a proven tag team, and this would signify them moving on from the Trios division. Matthews may decide to continue as a singles competitor instead. He made a name for himself during his time with 205 Live in WWE, dominating the division, and has proven countless times that he has what it takes. The star may even thrive following this path.

Buddy Matthews wants Adam Cole to prove him wrong
After challenging him a few days ago on Dynamite, the match between Buddy Matthews and Adam Cole has now been made official by the promotion and will take place next week at Fright Night Dynamite.
On X/Twitter he revealed that he had respect for Cole, but now he was a shell of his old self. He claimed he was fragile, and this match was him wanting the former NXT Champion to prove him wrong. He had little hope that Adam would be able to do so.
"I have nothing but respect for @AdamColePro - but let’s face it, he’s not the Adam Cole of Old. This New Adam Cole is 'Fragile' - I want him to prove me wrong! Sadly, I don’t think he can," Matthews posted.
The Panama City Playboy has not competed in any single match since All Out 2023, and it remains to be seen whether this will affect his performance next week. He has been looking confident since his return and a win against Buddy Matthews could greatly increase his momentum.
