Ricky Starks is one of the most underrated wrestlers on the AEW roster. However, he is currently in a somewhat confusing situation, and some fans are wondering whether he will be able to overcome it.
The former FTW Champion has not been seen in action since he and Big Bill lost their AEW Tag Team Championship to Sting and Darby Allin in February 2024. That is a long time, and no wrestler is usually out for this long unless they are injured. Since he has not been seen for this long, fans wonder if he is still with AEW or has left the company. The truth is that Starks is still under contract with the promotion,
As revealed on Backstage Pass recently, Tony Khan has frozen Starks’ contract. That means he will still be paid despite his absence. Fans might not be able to see their favorite star for a while. The issue is still unclear, and it will be interesting to see what Starks says about what is happening right now.

Matt Hardy gives his take on Ricky Starks’ situation
While it may appear that Tony Khan is not a big fan of Ricky Starks, there is one name that is his fan, and that is none other than Matt Hardy.
The former WWE star recently offered insights into what is happening with Ricky Starks and had an interesting take. Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, he said that things like this are common in wrestling.
"As far as guys being there under contract, I guess if there is a dispute and maybe someone voices an opinion that is contrary to your company or saying he doesn’t want to work there or whatever it may be, once again, I don’t know any of this, but I get Tony Khan holding someone under contract until the end of their deal, I mean, if they’re being paid, it is what it is. You signed a contract. That happens in business all the time, so that’s nothing new in pro wrestling," Hardy said.
Ricky Starks will no doubt want to return to the ring sooner rather than later, given that he is such a talented wrestler.
