Shane McMahon has surprisingly emerged as a topic of speculation among wrestling fans after a revered figure from AEW disclosed having had conversations with him and suggested that the 54-year-old could potentially fit in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Although conjecture has cropped up regarding the prospect of McMahon buying All Elite Wrestling since then, no official confirmation is available of Shane-O Mac having purchased the company from Tony Khan, suggesting that the rumors are false.

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, AEW commentator Jim Ross claimed that Shane McMahon in AEW could potentially work, although the success of his addition to the company would depend on the manner of his introduction to its programming. Good Ol' JR also suggested the idea of McMahon putting his brains together with Tony Khan in a creative collaboration, stating that it "might be great."

This led to speculations among fans regarding Shane potentially signing with All Elite Wrestling. To make matters more interesting, notable wrestling podcaster Conrad Thompson recently revealed that McMahon had supposedly reached out to AEW talent to hypothetically discuss the notion of his joining the promotion. Thompson went on to argue that while the odds of Shane going All Elite are not certain, the possibility is not completely lacking in feasibility.

Shane McMahon is primarily known for his time in WWE, where he appeared as an on-screen character from the late 1980s onwards. He is no stranger to acquiring wrestling companies that were competitors to the Stamford-based promotion, as he became the on-screen owner of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) during his feud with Vince McMahon in 2001.

However, Shane's ownership of WCW was a storyline affair, and while he has since pursued several independent business ventures, he does not own or run any wrestling promotions himself. AEW is still run and booked by Tony Khan, who owns it with his father, Shahid Khan, and although the possibility of Tony bringing in Shane in some capacity cannot be entirely dismissed, McMahon certainly does not hold any ownership over AEW.

When was Shane McMahon's last appearance in a wrestling ring?

Shane McMahon had been absent from WWE programming since his controversial performance in and involvement with the 2022 Men's Royal Rumble Match. His last notable appearance in the sports entertainment juggernaut took place at WrestleMania 39.

On Night Two of The Show of Shows last year, The Miz lashed out against his co-host, Snoop Dogg, for tricking him into an impromptu match against Pat McAfee the night before. After a verbal back-and-forth with the legendary rapper, the former WWE Champion would be surprised once again by a returning Shane, forcing The Miz to take on another challenger unprepared.

Unfortunately, Shane sustained an injury to his quad towards the beginning of the match and was eventually replaced by Snoop Dogg, who ended up securing the win over The A-Lister.
