#2 AEW's La Mera Mera Thunder Rosa
AEW's La Mera Mera (Head Honcho in Spanish) Thunder Rosa is a veteran of the ring at this point in her career. Having wrestled in multiple promotions such as NWA, Impact and Lucha Underground, the Mexican wrestler has made a name for herself as being one of the best female in-ring competitors in the entire wrestling industry. Her signing to AEW boosted a women's division that was badly in need of credibility and experienced heads.
"Never in my life doubt that I would be where I want to be! Today one of the biggest accomplishments in my career has been announced! #lameramera Is FINALLY WHERE SHE BELONGS!" Thunder Rosa posted on Twitter upon signing with AEW.

Despite her successes elsewhere, however, Thunder Rosa hasn't won any gold since signing with AEW. Her most memorable moment so far in the company came during her Unsanctioned Lights Out Anything Goes Match versus Britt Baker earlier this year on AEW Dynamite. Despite winning, the match is most famous for the bloody crimson mask that Britt wore which elevated her into superstardom.
While she has had many underrated matches and has become the backbone for the female roster, her matches are mostly featured on AEW Dark and AEW Elevation. Thunder Rosa is doing her part to build up the women around her but in the process she hasn't had much of an opportunity to put herself over.
For Thunder Rosa, winning the TBS Women's Championship will be a well-deserved AEW highlight in an already accomplished career. She has already defeated up-and-comer Jamie Hayter. Now standing in her way to the finals is Jade Cargill. It should be a straightforward victory over the rookie.
But while her chances of reaching the finals are clear, she will ultimately fall short. Not for a lack of trying. The AEW crowd clearly respects Thunder Rosa and wants her to succeed. However, there is one clear fan favorite who is destined to come out victorious over the whole tournament.
