Jon Moxley and his former Shield comrades are among the top stars in the pro wrestling industry today. While fans have been clamoring for Moxley to return to WWE and reform The Shield, it's unlikely.
Since departing the Stamford-based promotion in 2019, Moxley has been on a warpath worldwide. The veteran has also established himself as a significant name in the death match wrestling scene and has become known for his violent wrestling style.
Jon Moxley's seemingly barbaric approach to wrestling, which includes bleeding in matches, may not be suitable for WWE's current product. The Stamford-based promotion still maintains its TV-PG rating, meaning Moxley would have to stifle his unhinged character to fit in.

This is likely a concrete reason why Moxley may not return to his old hunting grounds as Dean Ambrose in the near future. During an appearance on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Moxley's former on-screen rival EC3 explained why he believes the AEW star could return to the Stamford-based promotion.

Jon Moxley recently opened up about his battle with substance abuse
Despite having a ton of momentum going into AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament in 2021, Moxley shockingly dropped out following the semi-finals. It was soon revealed that the star entered a rehabilitation program for alcohol addiction. The Purveyor of Violence returned after three months in January 2022, looking better than ever.
During an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Jon Moxley detailed how he initially compared himself to Kenny Omega. The Blackpool Combat Club member added that he's in a far better space today.
"Now, I'm far better than I was then in 2019, especially now that I'm not scared of dying of a seizure in the ring. Substance abuse issues are never really over, but it's in the rearview. Mentally, [and] physically, this is the best I've felt in a long time." (H/T: Fightful)
Moxley has inspired many who struggle through the same vices to seek help with his initiative. He is set to face Kenny Omega in a Steel Cage match this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.
