Adam Copeland made his return last week at Worlds End after a six-month hiatus from the company. It was like he never left as he was back in business and already getting into feuds with major stars on the roster.
While his ultimate goal is to take down Jon Moxley, he found himself rekindling an old rivalry this week, as he has gotten the attention of Chris Jericho. After a quick backstage run-in with Jericho's branches, he has momentarily focused his attention on The Nueve.
This brief feud may not be the last time that Adam Copeland and Chris Jericho cross paths in AEW, and the promotion could plan to run a rivalry between the duo sometime in 2025. Here are some possible ways this could be booked.
#1. Save it for AEW All In
A few days ago on Collision, Rated-FTR faced off against The Learning Tree and got the win.
Knowing The Nueve, he won't let things stand as it is, and he'll look to get retribution for the loss. This could push him to want to challenge his former WWE rival to a fight at the company's biggest stage.
In 2010, they faced off at WrestleMania 26 in a singles match, and they could do so once more 15 years later at All In. AEW could book this as a big money match, and something that helps bring in more fans for the pay-per-view. They could also add a stipulation of sorts to increase the anticipation and provide room for surprises during the match.
#2. Steel Cage match for the first time in 15 years as homage to their last WWE bout
The last live TV match that Cope and Jericho had was back in April 2010 at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. It was the former who came out on top at the event.
Seeing as Chris Jericho is still the ROH World Champion, The Rated-R Superstar could go after in hopes of adding another legendary title to his list of accolades. In April, the promotion usually holds the Supercard of Honor special event and this could be where the match takes place.
This would mark 15 years since their last match, and they could pay homage to this with a Steel Cage match with the ROH World Title on the line.
#3. AEW Revolution
Presently, the WWE Hall of Famer is gunning after Jon Moxley and his Death Riders. But, he may have made an enemy out of The Learning Tree that could bite him in the back at a crucial point.
Cope could end up being the next big challenger for the AEW World Championship. This match could take place at the next big pay-per-view, this being Grand Slam: Australia. Jericho could end up being petty and costing him the match as he doesn't want to see Adam become the world champion.
This could set up a bout between the two icons for Revolution a few weeks after that. This would be another high-profile feud brewing, and this would delay Adam Copeland's conquest for the world title. He could win this at another time.
#4. Adam Copeland vs. Chris Jericho in a world title match after 15 years
There is a real possibility that Adam Copeland ends up being the one to dethrone Jon Moxley, as he seems to be hinting at bringing out his ruthless side to this feud. This could be the type of person needed to dethrone the king.
Should he be successful, he could find Chris Jericho as one of his first challengers. While this may not be as big of a feud as with other stars, AEW could run this match as part of a short-term feud. They would be playing off the history between them, as 15 years ago at WrestleMania 26, they had a match with the World Heavyweight Title on the line.
Copeland could make quick work of him, and then move on to bigger feuds involving the world title, or a rematch with Jon Moxley somewhere down the road.
With 2025 just beginning, the possibilities are endless for Adam Copeland. Fans will just have to stay tuned to find out if they are getting this match with decades worth of history sometime soon.
