#1 CM Punk opens up about doing commentary in AEW
AEW star CM Punk recently revealed that commentary came naturally to him.
While speaking on a recent episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Punk revealed that he pitched the idea of commentating on one of Darby Allin's matches. Even though he wanted to do it for the entire show, at the same time, he didn't want to take anybody's job.

The Straight Edge Superstar stated that he is interested in working alongside Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur. In addition to that, Punk believes sitting at the commentary desk would also allow him to do different angles, which would be unique from what fans see most of the days.
"It was something that came naturally to me and everybody is always like, ‘Wow, you’re really good at this.’ We had an idea of me doing commentary on one of Darby’s match and we did that, but I was legit backstage going, ‘I want to do the whole show.’ I’m not trying to take anybody’s job, I just think it’s a cool way to get CM Punk on the show without doing the same things over and over. It’s just a different look. Selfishly, I want to work with Tony, JR, and Excalibur. I got to have a lot of fun and do an angle out of it and made it look different. Doing commentary with those guys is a blast," CM Punk said. (H/T- Inside The Ropes)
CM Punk made an impressive start to his AEW career, defeating the likes of Darby Allin and Powerhouse Hobbs. Until the time the company doesn't come up with any compelling storyline for him, Punk could be a great addition to the commentary team.
