AEW is the land of factions. The most dominant one currently is The Death Riders. World Champion Jon Moxley is the leader of the group. Meanwhile, its members, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, and PAC are the reigning AEW World Trios Champions.
Jon Moxley's AEW World Title reign has been commanding so far. However, with the spectacular return of The Rated-R Superstar Cope, The Purveyor of Violence's power is under threat. The former Edge intends to become the world champion. Hence, Moxley has every reason to be worried. He can protect his championship by aligning with Christian Cage and kicking out Claudio Castagnoli from the group.
Since Claudio Castagnoli lost convincingly to Shota Umino at Wrestle Dynasty, he hardly has any momentum right now. Moxley could kick him out of The Death Riders and temporarily align with former WWE star Christian Cage. With Cage by his side, Moxley will have the numbers advantage over Cope. This is because Captain Charisma is always accompanied by his faction, The Patriarchy.
If the two heels combine forces, Cope, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood, collectively known as Rated FTR, will be outnumbered in the feud.
Although Cage possesses a contract that guarantees him a future AEW World Championship match, he and Moxley may aim to get rid of the common enemy first. However, the former Dean Ambrose must be extra careful while aligning with the former TNT Champion so that the latter does not get any funny ideas.
Bully Ray feels Jon Moxley's ongoing storyline needs more substance
For the last few months, Jon Moxley has been saying that he wants to destroy All Elite Wrestling. This storyline has received a polarizing reception from fans.
According to WWE legend Bully Ray, the AEW World Champion needs a better reason as to why he wants to demolish the company.
"If at the end of the day, Moxley wants to destroy AEW because it's turned into something that he doesn't like, he needs to paint a better picture," said Ray on Busted Open. [H/T - WrestlingInc.]
Moxley is currently in his fourth reign as the AEW World Champion. He won the title at WrestleDream 2024 by defeating Bryan Danielson.
