MJF might soon face a former WWE Champion and retire him in AEW. The star in question, Mick Foley, was recently blasted by The Wolf of Wrestling on social media.
Foley recently sent a message to Friedman on Christmas, when he joked about the latter being a bad boy in a video. In response to the video message, the former AEW World Champion lashed out at the WWE Hall of Famer and even called him a "fat ba***rd."
"Have you been a good boy this year? I certainly hope not. Oh, good boys are so boring. A white meat babyface, when’s the last time that drew, oh I guess Cody Rhodes. Anyway, MJF, you’re so good at being bad it puts you at the top of my nice list. Have a nice day, Christmas Day that is,” Foley said in the video.
The Salt of the Earth replied:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"Who gave this fat b******d my number?!?!?”
The two seem to be hinting at a budding rivalry that might soon see them lock horns inside the ring. Though the 59-year-old legend retired from in-ring competition in 2012, he has talked about returning to the squared circle for one last match before riding off into the sunset. Tony Khan could make that happen by signing Foley for a one-off AEW match and booking him against MJF.
Mick Foley had a secret meeting with MJF for a final match
While attending a panel at Nickel City Comic Con in June 2024, Mick Foley revealed that he had a secret meeting with Maxwell Jacob Friedman to talk about a potential match before his 60th birthday.
Foley added that Friedman was the perfect fit to be his last opponent, as he could have carried him brilliantly throughout the bout, given his physical limitations.
"I had no doubt that he would have pulled it off perfectly and you know, he’s so good and in his prime that he could have worked around my weaknesses and played to my strengths and I think we could have done something pretty cool. MJF. Final answer," he said.
The plans for the abovementioned bout were seemingly canceled due to Foley's health issues. The last match the WWE Hall of Famer had was in 2012. He participated in the Men's Royal Rumble, which Sheamus won.
