AEW International Champion Will Ospreay recently called AJ Styles a ''legend'' on his official Twitter (X) account. Later, former WWE Superstar Ricochet agreed with The Aerial Assassin's assessment.
The Phenomenal One is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time. Since 2016, he has performed in the Stamford-based company and has faced top names such as John Cena, The Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, etc. The SmackDown Superstar has won prestigious championships such as the WWE Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Title, and more.
Before his stint with the Sports Entertainment juggernaut, AJ Styles established himself as a global star during his stint with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. The 47-year-old had a decorated run in TNA. However, his stint in New Japan Pro-Wrestling is often overlooked.
In NJPW, AJ Styles was a member of the villainous stable, The Bullet Club. Interestingly, some argue that he was their leader. Under his "leadership," this stable rose to new heights and became a force to be reckoned with. In addition, he won the prestigious IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, AJ opened up about his stint with NJPW. The former IWGP World Champion stated that the company made him a star despite his ignorance of the Japanese language.
A Twitter (X) account posted a clip of the same interview on Wednesday (July 10). AEW star Will Ospreay quoted the post with a one-word message.
''Legend!'' he wrote.
Former WWE Speed Champion Ricochet agreed with Ospreay, as he wrote, ''100%!''
Will Ospreay expresses his desire to face former WWE star Ricochet in AEW
When Ricochet was still signed with World Wrestling Entertainment, Will Ospreay appeared on ComicBook Nation and revealed that he wanted a rematch with the former Prince Puma.
Ricochet and Ospreay had a memorable rivalry during the 2010s, as the duo locked horns several times across different promotions, including NJPW.
"I want him [Ricochet] to know that there are people here that genuinely appreciate his work, and I want to wrestle him again. I want him back here. I want him to know that there isn't a bar. You are the f***ing bar!" he said.
Ricochet recently entered free agency after his contract with the Stamford-based promotion expired. It will be interesting to see if the former RAW Superstar becomes All Elite in the coming months.
