13-time WWE champion reveals strange backstage moment with Mike Tyson: "Dude wanted to oil up"

A top WWE star has disclosed a memorable backstage moment he had with the boxing legend, Mike Tyson. The moment took place in the AEW locker room a few years ago.

The 13-time WWE Champion in question is the current Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes. Cody is also known for his time in AEW before he left the company in 2022. The American Nightmare disclosed a backstage moment he had with Mike Tyson, Tyson made multiple appearances on All Elite Wrestling in 2020-2021.

Speaking on the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast, Cody recalled oiling up Mike Tyson backstage in Tony Khan's promotion and said that he would treasure that moment forever. Rhodes revealed that he wanted everything to go well and Tyson asked him to put oil on his body by taking his shirt off:

"Then he took his shirt off. Now, mind you, Mike didn’t even need to take his shirt off for this. He’s standing there, no belt on his jeans, shirtless, and looking at me. This is one of the greatest fighters of all time, someone I truly respect, and he hands me the bottle and says, ‘You do it.’"

Cody also explained how he oiled Mike Tyson up and Mike just put his shirt back on afterwards. Rhodes concluded by saying Tyson wanted to oil up:

"I think he did take his shirt off at some point later, but yeah—I oiled up Mike Tyson. I always felt good about that decision. Dude wanted to oil up!” [H/T - Ringside News]

The current WWE Champion is set for a ladder match

The current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes has been feuding with Kevin Owens and successfully retained his title against Owens at Saturday Night's Main Event.

On SmackDown last week, Owens challenged Cody again and Rhodes accepted to defend his title against Kevin at Royal Rumble 2025 in a ladder match.

Moreover, the feud between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens is expected to conclude at Royal Rumble 2025. It remains to be seen who walks out as the champion at the Rumble.
