Earlier tonight on Collision, an AEW original made a surprise appearance despite not being signed to the company. Fans reacted to this callback and were happy to see him once more on the promotion. This would be Marko Stunt.
Marko debuted during the company's first pay-per-view in 2019, Double or Nothing. During his time with them, he was affiliated with Jurassic Express alongside Luchasaurus and Jack Perry (fka Jungle Boy). He was eventually released in 2022.
Marko Stunt emerged tonight as the surprise challenger for Jack Perry's TNT Championship. A ghost of his past came to haunt The Scapegoat, who had had his first title defense since becoming champion at Forbidden Door last weekend.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Fans were happy with his appearance as they never expected to see Marko Stunt again in AEW. He was a popular star during the first few years of the company, and he was able to have great moments despite his height.
"This was a great callback!" a fan said.
"What a come back, never thought I'd see marko in Aew again," another mentioned.
"This was actually pretty friggin GREAT," another replied.
One fan mentioned how this was reminiscent of how the company was back in its debut year. Another fan wanted to see Jurassic Express reunite, seeing how Perry and Stunt's match went earlier.
"2019 Feeling is restored @TonyKhan Let’s go!! one claimed.
"I was asking mysef this week what happened to marko stunt," another mentioned.
"BRING BACK JURASSIC EXPRESS!!" a fan mentioned.
How have The Jurassic Express members been in AEW since Marko Stunt's departure?
After Mark Stunt left AEW in 2022, Jurassic Express was able to find a new mentor and leader in Christian Cage. For some time, they came to his aid as Christian was feuding with Kenny Omega and The Elite.
However, sometime after that feud ended, they went on to become world tag team champions. But after dropping these, the former WWE Superstar turned on Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus was conflicted about which side he ended up choosing, as he went back and forth between the two but eventually decided to stick with The Patriarch, which is the case to this day.
With Christian, Luchasaurus became TNT Champion, but the title eventually went to the veteran. He now stands as the muscle of The Patriarchy and someone at Cage's disposal.
Jack Perry, following Christian Cage's betrayal, also had a career change. He continued to be a babyface until he, too, turned heel at the expense of HOOK, this time at last year's edition of Forbidden Door. Now, The Scapegoat is a member of The Elite, the current TNT Champion, and a former FTW Champion.
It is safe to say that even after the faction disbanded, they still had great runs after going their respective ways.
