Since its foundation in 2019, AEW has made significant progress. It currently employs some of the best and most respected in-ring competitors from around the world. Industry veteran Bully Ray recently discussed the growth prospects of the Tony Khan-led promotion in 2025.
All Elite Wrestling kicked off its programming for the New Year with Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen this week. The show was simulcasted on TBS and MAX, where the promotion's content will be available for streaming as per the terms of the new media rights agreement reached last year between AEW and its broadcasting partner, Warner Bros. Discovery.
Furthermore, the Jacksonville-based company is gearing up for its upcoming cross-promotional pay-per-view, Wrestle Dynasty 2025, later this month, and its Australian debut with Grand Slam: Australia in February. Furthermore, All Elite Wrestling will host this year's iteration of All In at the Globe Life Field Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in July.
Even though the future of AEW seems to hold much promise, Bully Ray recently cast doubt on the likelihood of the company experiencing a surge in popularity and other relevant metrics in 2025. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, he said:
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
"TNA will grow, the WWE will grow bigger, and we will either be talking about the resurgence or the demise of AEW, and I go 50/50 on that. I want to see the resurgence, but from what I see right this very moment, I hope we're not speaking about the demise, and that's just my fair assessment on everything." [H/T Wrestling Inc]
It should be noted that Ray, a long-time critic of All Elite Wrestling, is signed to a "Legends Deal" with WWE, the company's rival brand. Ray even appeared on NXT last year.
Bully Ray on Tony Khan's AEW booking
Over the past five years, Tony Khan has been criticized by viewers and veterans alike for many of his booking choices.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio last month, Bully Ray confessed that he could not understand the logic of the AEW Creative Head's creative decisions. However, he speculated that the rationale behind those decisions makes sense for TK.
"It doesn't make sense to us; it's not logical. But, in order to understand Tony, you have to think illogically," said the WWE legend. "Illogically to us because when he does, makes logical sense to him and the way his brain works. It doesn't make sense to us." [H/T: WrestlingINC]
It remains to be seen what Khan and his team have in store for All Elite fans in 2025.
