Kenny Omega has been out of action all year after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. The former AEW World Champion is preparing for his in-ring return at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, but an old rival wants to see him back in All Elite Wrestling as well.
Kip Sabian joined AEW shortly after the company was founded in 2019. The 32-year-old wasn't able to find a spotlight for the first few years in the promotion, but joining Christian Cage's Patriarchy has provided him a new avenue in 2024.
Kip Sabian and Kenny Omega have faced off several times in tag team action, but their only singles match together was on the December 4, 2019, episode of AEW DARK. Sabian took to X (fka Twitter) today to express his excitement over getting to watch classic All Elite Wrestling content when the promotion's library is added to MAX next year, and he revealed that he wants to mix it up with The Best Bout Machine once again:
"A true highlight of the good ol’ days. Excited to be able to go back and watch early years @AEW content on @StreamOnMax very soon. But I’ll tell you one thing I want for Christmas.. @KennyOmegamanX one more time. A lot has changed in 5 years, old friend."
Kenny Omega could return at AEW Worlds End 2024
Despite already being scheduled for a return match at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, recent reports have indicated that Kenny Omega could show up in AEW before the end of the year.
The former AEW World Champion has plenty of loose ends left to tie up from his last appearance in the Jacksonville-based promotion, including unfinished business with Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry, and the currently absent Young Bucks.
According to Fightful Select, AEW brass have discussed Omega's return potentially happening at the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28. The Best Bout Machine will have plenty of challengers lined up as well. In addition to Kip Sabian, Omega has been called out by The Acclaimed's Max Caster.
Despite his prolonged absence, Kenny Omega remains one of AEW's biggest stars. Only time will tell whether The Cleaner will climb back to the top of the company after making his grand return.
