Ric Flair believes a former WWE star might return to the promotion in the future. The said talent is currently signed to AEW.
Mercedes Mone performed as Sasha Banks in WWE. She is a five-time RAW Women's Champion, a former SmackDown Women's Champion, and a three-time Women's Tag Team Champion. The 32-year-old also held the NXT Women's Title during her time on the developmental brand.
In May 2022, Mercedes Mone and her then-tag team partner Naomi walked out of WWE due to alleged creative differences with the Vince McMahon-led management. The Glow has returned to the Stamford-based promotion, while The CEO is a member of the Tony Khan-led organization's roster now.
Ric Flair recently joined Bully Ray on his Busted Open podcast. During the interview, The Nature Boy said Mercedes Mone would ultimately end up in the Triple H-led despite their differences in the past.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
“I look at Sasha [and] she has that mindset that she can do whatever she wants to do because she’s that good. I think that ultimately she’ll end up back in the WWE. If you look at the last 10 years, what Sasha has been able to do and what Ashley [Charlotte Flair] has been able to do, and maybe a couple [of] others (…) name the guys that can stay on top for 10 years. Never take a step back, always in the main event.” [H/T: Wrestlingnewsco]
Athena names former WWE champion Mercedes Mone as her ultimate rival
ROH star Athena recently had an interview with Denise Salcedo, where she praised Mercedes Mone. She also named The CEO her "ultimate rival."
"That's someone I watch very, very closely. Like every match that she has (...) I think when the bar stacks up, like, that is my ultimate rival. That is the person that I don't know how that match is going to pan out when I look [at] every scenario in my head because she's so innovative, I'm very innovative, I'm very creative."
Athena is the current ROH Women's World Champion. She has held the title for more than two years now. Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone is a double champion and holds the AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women's championships.
