Former AEW star Joey Janela recently reacted to his match with Jon Moxley from 2019 and revealed that he lost some of his stuff in the locker room. The 34-year-old further revealed that Matt Jackson lent him money after the bout.

Jon Moxley was red hot after jumping ship to AEW from WWE in 2019. The former United States Champion immediately rose to prominence in the Jacksonville-based promotion and has maintained that status ever since. Moxley has been a part of many brutal matches in his All Elite Wrestling career and recently was the five-year anniversary of his unhinged contest with Joey Janela at AEW Fyster Fest 2019.

On X (formerly Twitter), Janela reacted to the anniversary of his unsanctioned match with Moxley at Fyster Fest. The GCW star also revealed a backstory about wrestling at the event.

"And people still talk about this sh*t everyday. The night before I was gonna have one claw, ended up at coyote ugly in Daytona until 2am funneling beers. Ended up in my room with a girl till sunrise. Walked outside of the hotel and dove in the ocean. Then headed to the building. It was so awesome, The worst part was my fanny pack with my passport and all my money, cards got stolen or thrown in a trash during my match from the locker room. Was on cloud 9 and couldn’t get served at the bar afterwards. Mox was buying me drinks and bringing em outside. Matt Jackson did give me $200 though, will remember that. Was most amped because it was the same venue as Bash Of the Beach 1996. Haha"

Christian Cage reveals Jon Moxley encouraged him to join AEW

Captain Charisma signed with AEW in 2021 and quickly became one of the biggest stars in the promotion. Christian turned heel in 2022 which has made him the most hated character in All Elite Wrestling.

Speaking with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the former TNT Champion revealed that Jon Moxley played an important role in his signing with the Jacksonville-based company.

"A friend of mine, Jon Moxley, called me and we were talking and when he found out that I wasn’t signed he was blown away by that. And he said you should have a conversation with Tony Khan. I was like, I don’t know. And he said, Well, you’re actually an idiot if you don’t, you hold all the cards here. He said you have the ability to pick where you refinish your career.”

Christian Cage is a former two-time TNT Champion and is currently the leader of The Patriarchy (Nick Wayne, Shayna Wayne, and Killswitch) in All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if the veteran turns babyface in the future.
