A former WWE Champion recently returned at Worlds End pay-per-view and confronted Jon Moxley. The veteran has now pitched to fight the AEW World Champion.
Adam Copeland was the reigning TNT Champion when he fractured his tibia at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. He was forced to relinquish the title and went on hiatus to recover. While many people believed that he would return to regain the TNT Title, Copeland had other ideas.
After FTR was attacked by The Death Riders backstage, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood promised to return with an ally to confront Mox and his crew. At Worlds End 2024, the duo lived up to their promise when they showed up with Adam Copeland. This also seemingly put Copeland into the World Title picture against Moxley.
During a recent interview with The Takedown on SI, Adam Copeland seemed excited about facing Jon Moxley in a match. He believes that they could have a "gnarly fight," which could make for an interesting match.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
"I think this'll be uglier in all the ways that I love. [Moxley] reminds me a little bit of Terry Funk. He's got a little Roddy Piper to him. He's got that throwback feel, but with a modern take. That to me is really exciting. I'd love to just get in there and just have it be a gnarly fight. A hard hitting heavyweight match between two dudes who are over 230 pounds and are just gonna take each other's heads off. That sounds like a good night," Copeland said. [H/T Fightful]
Adam Copeland plans to go after Jon Moxley's World Championship
Since winning the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley has had to fend off several challengers such as Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and Hangman Adam Page. Not to mention that Christian Cage is lurking in the background, waiting to cash in his contract at the perfect moment. With Adam Copeland's return, it looks like Moxley will have to look over his shoulder for one more star.
During the AEW Worlds End media scrum, Copeland addressed his plans in the company. He said he plans to pursue the World Title, and FTR is targeting the Tag Team Title.
"If you can think of a goal, that's what we're going after. They should be Tag Team Champions, I think we should win the Trios Championships, I'm going after the World Heavyweight Championship. (...) So my plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that we've never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field and go out there and do what we do."
It will be interesting to see if the Rated-R Superstar will be able to win his first World Title since 2011.
