AEW star Orange Cassidy recently reacted to his comparison with WWE legend John Cena. The 40-year-old is a former International Champion.
John Cena is one of the greatest stars in professional wrestling and was the face of WWE for a decade. The veteran's work ethic has been compared to Orange Cassidy due to the latter's contribution to AEW. However, Freshly Squeezed had an interesting reaction to the comparison.
In a recent interview on the Battleground podcast, Orange Cassidy expressed his shock at the comparison, revealing that he ''didn't read that.'' The AEW star called The Franchise Player one of the best to ever do it and clarified that he didn't believe that he was AEW's John Cena.
“I want to know where you heard these things because certainly not on my internet; I didn’t read that. I don’t know. Obviously, John Cena is one of the best to ever do it, right? So you got to take it as a compliment. I purposely make the professional wrestling I make because I want to be different. I don’t want anybody to say that I am like someone else, or I know it’s weird to talk about aura, but like, I don’t know. Yeah, that’s weird. I don’t agree with it!” he said. [H/T: WrestleZone]
John Cena will retire from professional wrestling in 2025
At the Money in the Bank Premium Live event earlier this year, The Doctor of Thuganomics made a huge announcement regarding his in-ring career. The Franchise Player revealed that the upcoming year would be his last as a professional wrestler, adding that he would embark on a 12-month Retirement Tour in 2025.
Many talents like Gunther, Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and more could be in line to face The Greatest of All Time next year. Cena could also reignite his feuds with CM Punk, Randy Orton, and The Miz.
It will be interesting to see what WWE has in store for the 16-time World Champion's Farewell Tour.
