A top AEW name has just revealed that they underwent surgery to address some issues that have been plaguing them for the past two decades. This would be Sonjay Dutt.
Dutt joined AEW in 2021 as a producer, but he has since appeared on-screen as the manager of Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Satnam Singh. He has also worked for several other major promotions, including TNA, and WWE. However, he only worked purely as a producer during his time with the latter.
On X/Twitter, Sonjay Dutt revealed that last week, he had had surgery to address his long-standing shoulder issues. He mentioned that he received a reverse total shoulder replacement. He was now currently in the recovery phase and was excited to find out what this meant for his future in the business.
"After dealing with a myriad of shoulder issues for the better part of the last 2 decades, I started my journey to get fixed. Last wk, I underwent surgery, receiving a reverse total shoulder replacement. Been extremely taxing mentally/physically, but I’m so excited for my future!" Sonjay tweeted.

Sonjay Dutt previously talked about why he left WWE for AEW
In 2021, it was reported that Dutt had left WWE after being signed with them as a producer since 2019. Shortly after, he made his way to AEW and ROH.
During his appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette back in 2022, he talked about why he left. He revealed that this was because he wasn't satisfied with his role as simply being a producer.
He mentioned his time with TNA and how he was also an in-ring competitor among other things. However, with WWE, he was limited to only one specific role.
"So, for 10 years now, like a lot of people, especially if you've worked with me in WWE where I was just a match producer, and that is kind of what WWE is where, 'Okay, this is your job,' which kind of was part of the reason why I wanted to quit. I was like, 'Look, I know in my heart of hearts, I can do more than just be a match producer,' because before WWE, I was at Impact, and what you see now I did at Impact. So, I had all these experiences and when I got to WWE, it was like, 'Okay, you have this one segment, and you're gonna produce it, and then that's it.'" (H/T - WrestlingInc.)
Now that he is on the road to recovery, Sonjay Dutt could very well be heading towards a potential in-ring return in AEW. Having the likes of Jarrett, Lethal, and Satnam by his side, they could be a force to deal with in the Jacksinville-based promotion.
