A 43-year-old WWE Superstars says he benefitted from being a part of AEW. He was in AEW for several years before returning to the Stamford-based promotion.

Shawn Spears reinvented himself on the independent circuit and turned many heads when he joined AEW. He started his AEW career with a bang by hitting Cody Rhodes with a vicious chair shot thereby busting him open.

Over the years, Spears would go on to be involved in several storylines but he often found himself on the losing end of his matches. After spending several years with the company, Spears returned to WWE and has been competing on NXT ever since.

A fan recently asked Shawn Spears on social media about his favorite moments in AEW. The Chairman replied that he was "fortunate" to be a part of Tony Khan's promotion:

"Plenty. I was fortunate enough to be put in situations that allowed for growth as an individual and more importantly, as a performer. All information, good bad or indifferent, that I can pass along to future generations."

WWE Superstar Shawn Spears recently suffered a major loss

Shawn Spears' professional career has gotten back on track and he has been doing a great job in NXT. Meanwhile, he recently went through a personal loss.

Spears recently took to social media to announce that his friend of 20 years passed away due to cancer. He also shared a bit of fatherly bestowed upon him by his friend:

"Last week, a friend of mine of roughly 20 years passed away after a year long battle with cancer. He left behind young boys. One of the very last texts he sent me, was a piece of fatherly advice that I will pass along to you all now: “Love your babies man. Love them hard.”"

It will be interesting to see whether Shawn Spears' second run in WWE will benefit him.
