WWE is the biggest pro wrestling company in the world. Therefore, when Chris Jericho got the opportunity to become a part of its roster, he didn't let it slide.
Before The Demo God started his illustrious career in the Stamford-based promotion, he was a mid-card talent in their rival company WCW. He debuted on the August 9, 1999, episode of Raw Is War in Chicago, where he interrupted The Rock, who was cutting a promo on The Big Show. Due to him being a former WCW star, Chris Jericho was disliked by many people in WWE.
In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Y2J recalled the time he almost got fired a month after his WWE debut for being an ex-WCW guy.
He said, "I almost got fired about a month in [World Wrestling Entertainment]. I got called into a meeting with Vince, Jim Ross, and Blackjack and that's when Vince was like, 'The problem with you is you're the drizzling sh*t. You're not worth more than the paper your contract was printed on.' I was like, 'You're green as grass but geez, lighten up dude.'" [1:55 - 2:20]
WWE veteran Jim Cornette mocks Chris Jericho's latest match
On the latest edition of AEW Collision, Chris Jericho faced Dax Harwood of FTR in a singles match. The bout was enthralling but was wrapped up in a chaotic way.
The Learning Tree leader tried to attack the referee while Harwood was looking away but slightly pushed him to the side instead and even missed hitting his opponent with the title, which all looked sloppy. Jim Cornette mocked the segment on X.
"Can someone with experience in pro wrestling tell ME what was supposed to be going on here????" wrote Jim Cornette.
Despite a botched ending, Jericho picked up the win after hitting the Judas Effect on his opponent.
