A former WWE World Champion opened up about his real-life animosity with Triple H back when he first joined WWE. The veteran has been with AEW since the inception of the company.
Six-time WWE World Champion, Chris Jericho, made his debut in the Stamford-based promotion back in 1999 following his departure from WCW. He had a memorable first year and later went on to defeat Triple H for the world title in 2000 as well. However, Jericho and Hunter didn't get along at that time.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes recently, Jericho disclosed that there was real animosity between him and The Game when he first joined WWE in 1999 because the wrestlers there didn't want guys coming from WCW at that time. Chris revealed the following:
"Triple H and I didn't get along back at that point in time, there was a lot of animosity for real because I had the audacity to come to WWE and people didn't like it. They didn't want WCW guys coming to WWE 'cause they thought we were inferior." [0:24-0:41]
Chris Jericho revealed Triple H had a lot of influence in WWE when he arrived
Chris Jericho also disclosed that due to his animosity with Triple H, he was mostly under the radar despite doing his best. The stars backstage had some "pull" in the company and over Vince McMahon as well:
"So you could do 10 things right but if you did one thing wrong, you were under the microscope you know and you were in trouble and those guys had pull. So they would bare you to Vince and it was just politics and I didn't really know about politics at the time but I learned very very quickly." [0:42-0:58]
Moreover, both Jericho and Hunter have squashed their beef over the years, and with The Game being the CCO of WWE right now, it will be interesting to see if Jericho would return to work with him.
