Adam Cole is one of AEW's top stars at the moment. However, he can have a real issue in the company depending on the fans, according to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long.
Despite being a talented star, Cole has often come across as physically unappealing in the public eye. When in WWE NXT, he was leaner than most stars who were around his weight class. Even in AEW, his physique raised some questions during his downtime when injured.
Speaking about the topic on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long stated:
"It is an issue if fans want it to be. I mean I don't think there is no loss in you gotta work out to be a professional wrestler, or you gotta train to be a professional wrestler. You know that's not so, because I know a lot of guys who working and don't go to the gym at all. I ain't never seen 'em in the gym. But they are working. So I don't know you know, that's kinda left up to the individual himself." [0:56 onwards]

The AEW star has previously commented on being body-shamed
According to Adam Cole, the kind of comments he sees regarding his body is something to be expected in this line of business.
Speaking about his career, the Panama City Playboy talked about how he had faced these comments for a significantly long time and he simply just blocked out the negativity.
"That’s what being in the public eye really means. People are allowed to say what they want to say. Does it feel good? Not at all. It definitely doesn’t. At the same time, if I’m someone who wants to be in the entertainment business and in the public eye, I know it’s something I have to expect to deal with in a lot of ways," said Cole.
He added:
"I know everyone handles it differently. For me, I’ve gotten to the point where I kind of ignore it or block it out as best I can. I’m focused on making me the best version of me. I try not to get too discouraged with what social media can say," he stated. [H/T: TV Insider]
It remains to be seen what is next for Adam Cole down the line in AEW.
