Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) made his AEW debut on October 1, 2023, at WrestleDream pay-per-view. Being considered a long-time WWE Loyalist by many, the Rated R superstar defied expectations by leaving the Stamford-based company. The entire pro-wrestling world has high hopes for the future of Copeland and All Elite Wrestling on adding an all-time great to its roster.

In an interview with DAZN Wrestling, Swerve Strickland shared his take on Adam Copeland's arrival in All Elite Wrestling and called it intriguing as the veteran had spent his entire career performing in WWE without working up with any other promotion.

"It’s the first time seeing him mix it up with new fresh blood, new fresh talent in another new, fresh company. It’s been four years that AEW has been around, but it’s still a new, fresh company. That’s intriguing in itself, " Swerve Strickland said. (H/t Fightful)

Strickland added that the 11-time WWE Champion would bring something new to the table with his knowledge, persona, and presence and that everyone wants to see something they had never seen before from the Rated R Superstar.

The 33-year-old said the Jacksonville-based company gives a lot of creative freedom to the stars, which would let the 49-year-old feel free and fluid in the twilight tears of his wrestling career. In addition, Strickland talked about the great potential of the story being told about Copeland and Christian Cage, who is having a career resurgence in AEW.

"You’re really getting to see him be fluid and free with his career at the tail end, saying this is where he wanted to end his career with Christian, and Christian is on a big resurgence in his career with what he’s doing right now. You’re seeing a hungry, creative free guy in Adam Copeland, a legend, going up against a resurged, better than he’s ever been character, evil, maniacal, turtle neck wearing TNT Champion in Christian,” Strickland added. Swerve Strickland wants to achieve a major milestone with the AEW World Title

Over the past few months, Swerve Strickland has produced some great performances inside the ring and has racked up victories over the company's top stars.

Most recently, on WrestleDream, the former AEW Tag Team Champion defeated Hangman Adam Page in a grudge match.

During the same recent interview, Swerve Strickland said he has the momentum to win a championship, and he wants to become AEW's first black World Champion.

“I think that’s a story, that’s a possibility, that’s being talked about now amongst peers. It’s a seed that I planted that I wanted to just organically grow. The story wasn’t about AEW’s never had a black world champion, its like, I want to win it. I want to be the first and I don’t want to accept anything less. I want to be the first, which means I want to be next up, especially with the momentum I have. I want to use all of that to get to the top," Swerve Strickland said. [H/T: Fightful]

At Dynamite Title Tuesday on October 10, 2023, Strickland lost to Bryan Danielson in a Numer one Contender match for the TNT Championship.
