Adam Copeland has been in the pro wrestling industry for decades. He recently dropped a big hint about when he might hang up his wrestling boots.
The WWE Hall of Famer had to retire in 2011 following serious neck issues. He returned to action in 2020 and participated in the Men's Royal Rumble match as entrant number 21.
After being a part of WWE for many years, he left the promotion in September 2023 and joined AEW a month later. The Rated-R Superstar was out of action for months due to an injury he sustained at Double or Nothing 2024. Copeland returned at Worlds End 2024 to confront The Death Riders.
In an interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx, Adam Copeland seemingly hinted that he might retire after one and a half or two years. But the legend added that his in-ring retirement didn't concern him because he liked to live in the present and not dwell on the future.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
“There’s still some really fun stories to be explored that will probably eat up a year and a half, two years, and then I think it’s going to be time. But again, I can’t sit there and dwell on it. I have to focus on each time I’m in that ring and go, here I am. You’ve got to be in the present. Otherwise, bad things can happen, but also being in the present, I soak it all in, I enjoy it all instead of getting too far forward.” [H/T: Uproxx]
Adam Copeland wants to wrestle in Arena Mexico
Adam Copeland revealed a new goal on his pro wrestling bucket list during the abovementioned interview with Uproxx. The Rated-R Superstar said he wished to wrestle in Arena Mexico, one of the most popular pro wrestling venues in the world.
Copeland also recalled the time he watched a CMLL show while he was a world champion in WWE.
"I'd love to wrestle in Arena México. Never worked there for CMLL or anything like that, so I think that would be great. I've been [there] as a fan, at the time I was world champ (...) So, I went to this show with a lucha mask on and I sat in the third row and watched the entire show."
The Rated-R Superstar made his presence felt at AEW Worlds End, where he sparked a new rivalry with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders. He will team up with FTR to take on the dominant faction tonight on Dynamite.
