Adam Copeland experienced a career resurgence that few expected following his signing with AEW. Unfortunately, the WWE Hall of Famer was injured at Double or Nothing 2024, and he's now shared the greatest regret of his latest run.
The Rated R Superstar found success as TNT Champion with his "Cope Open," an open challenge series that saw the veteran compete against some of wrestling's brightest young stars. However, disaster struck in Copeland's match at AEW Double or Nothing last month, putting a premature end to his title reign.
Adam Copeland wrestled against Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Cage Match at the pay-per-view. The Rated R Superstar fractured his tibia in a dive from the top of the cage, which ultimately forced him to relinquish the TNT Championship and go on hiatus to recover.
Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling with Freddie, Copeland revealed that his biggest regret about the injury is the timing of it, as he'll likely be forced to miss All In 2024 at Wembley Stadium:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"The regret that I have in this injury happening when it has, was Wembley Stadium," said Copeland. "I was really, really pumped for Wembley because throughout everything and all the different venues I've been — and even all the dumps that I've wrestled or the barns that I've wrestled or just whatever right — Wembley, man, like I just think of Freddie Mercury, I think of Queen. That's where I go and it's like, 'Oh, Wembley, I can't wait.' Well, looks like I'm gonna have to wait longer." [H/T: WrestlingInc)
Adam Copeland revealed a positive update on his health
Fans were heartbroken after Adam Copeland released an emotional message following his injury at AEW Double or Nothing. While the 50-year-old is out of action for the time being, it seems that he's on a solid road to recovery.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, The Rated R Superstar delivered a positive update following his surgery. He claimed that, while he was not expecting it to be easy, his doctor was optimistic, and his bones are healthy:
"My Achilles tear a few years ago led to my most difficult rehab, and I’m expecting more of that," said Copeland. "I’m 50. I know what’s in front of me. But the surgery was successful, and the doctor was optimistic because my bones are healthy. It’s my seventh surgery, so I know the drill. We’ll see how my body cooperates."
Adam Copeland has wowed fans with his in-ring prowess in AEW, and he's also teased a potential change in presentation once he returns. It remains to be seen what the veteran decides to do when he's healthy enough to come back.
