Adam Copeland returned from injury at AEW Worlds End 2024. Now, he is teasing a major reunion with one of his closest friends.
Copeland has a long history with former Intercontinental Champion Christian Cage. The two of them have known each other for decades. When they joined WWE, their initial success was as part of a tag team called Edge & Christian. They eventually went on to have incredible singles careers.
Fans were hoping to see the longtime friends reunite when Copeland joined AEW. However, that wasn't the case as the two feuded over the TNT Championship. Despite their differences, The Rated-R Superstar has not given up on the idea of one final tag team run with Christian Cage. In a chat with TMZ, the Hall of Famer said:
“But to be able to come back, run it with Christian, and do what we did, and who knows where it goes from there. I feel like at some point, a C & C tag team run should be in the cards, but you never know. Getting to do Rated FTR. I mean, it’s all bucket list things that are happening now that I cooked up while I was retired. If I was ever able to get back, this would be cool [and] this would be cool and now I’m getting to do it.” [H/T: WrestleZone]
Adam Copeland explains why he chose to join AEW
Adam Copeland was a WWE guy for most of his career. Even when Christian Cage first left the company to join TNA Wrestling in the mid-2000s, Copeland remained with the Stamford-based promotion, and this decision worked out well for him. After a storied WWE career, the Hall of Famer surprised everyone when he showed up in AEW in 2023.
During the same interview, the former WWE Champion explained that he found it intriguing to work with his close friends like FTR and Christian Cage. He was also excited at the prospect of working with people he'd never wrestled before.
“Yeah, I mean, again, one of the reasons I came to AEW, I looked at it and I got a few close friends in this industry, like the close ones, and those are three of them, and they’re all in one place. That seems very intriguing to me,” Adam Copeland admitted. “And then you look at the roster, and it’s just a murderer’s row of guys that I’ve never been in there with. And that, to me, was so enticing and so exciting." [H/T: WrestleZone]
It will be interesting to see whether Adam Copeland will reunite with Christian Cage before hanging up his wrestling boots.
