The latest episode of AEW Collision suffered a major hit in the ratings against unusual competition. This past Saturday's show aired live from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The previous episode of Collision, which aired on December 21, saw a surprising upswing in ratings after a huge lead-in from a college football game. However, the latest edition went head-to-head with the NFL's Steelers vs. Bengals matchup in primetime, and viewership suffered a huge blow as a result.

The latest episode of Saturday Night Collision averaged 345,000 viewers, down 46% from the Christmas special. According to Wrestlenomics, the show boasted a 0.09 rating in the key 18-49 demo, good enough to rank it #3 for the night on cable.

It should be noted that this was the first episode of AEW Collision to be simulcast on MAX, but viewership numbers for WBD's streaming service are not made available to the public.

Kenny Omega set to return to AEW Dynamite this week

AEW has kicked off a new era in 2025, with both of the company's weekly shows simulcasting on MAX. Tony Khan has welcomed Adam Copeland back and booked two high-stakes Casino Gauntlet matches, and he's about to get one of his Executive Vice Presidents back in the ring.

Kenny Omega made his in-ring return at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5 after missing the entirety of 2024. The Best Bout Machine sent a chilling message to AEW's locker room after his victory over Gabe Kidd at the Tokyo Dome:

"You’re probably wondering after that, what’s next? ‘Kenny, you back?’ What do you think? Yeah, I’m back, and if you’re wondering what’s next, it’s time to take back everything I lost. It’s time to rebuild. It’s time to prove what I’ve proven time and time and time again, not just this company, this entire business belongs to Omega," he said.

Omega is scheduled to appear on this week's Dynamite. It will be his first appearance on the Wednesday night show since March of last year when he was betrayed by The Elite and booted from the faction.
