Despite the return of a top star, AEW Dynamite saw a drastic decline in ratings this week compared to the previous ones. Three-time champion Darby Allin's comeback could not help the numbers.
With the Double or Nothing pay-per-view just around the corner, the May 15 edition of the promotion's flagship show was stacked with great matches.
As reported by Wrestlenomics, Dynamite drew a total viewership of 672,000 and was rated 0.23 among the 18-49 demographics this week.

This number is lower than last Wednesday's show, as the previous week drew 711,000 and was rated 0.24 among the demographic. According to reports, this is Dynamite's lowest 18-49 demographic since June 24, 2020.
Kazuchika Okada, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Mercedes Mone, Swerve Strickland, and many more stars were announced ahead of this week's show. Despite being a star-studded episode, AEW failed to garner decent viewership and audience numbers.
The show's main event saw Kazuchika Okada defeating Dax Harwood in a stellar bout. In the final moments, Darby Allin revealed himself as the fourth member of Team AEW and replaced Eddie Kingston, who had been injured at NJPW Resurgence.
Darby has been absent from the promotion since the March 13 edition of Dynamite. He lost to Jay White and injured his foot in that match.
It will be interesting to see if the Dynamite viewership surge next week, as it will be the go-home show before Double or Nothing.
