The blockbuster opening match of this week's AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming featured multiple top stars facing off in tag team action. The bout ended in a chaotic brawl, however, courtesy of the involvement of a former world champion.
The Death Riders suffered a major setback last week on the Wednesday night show after Jay White defeated PAC. Marina Shafir, distracting The Switchblade, opened the door for Jon Moxley to lay out the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, but The One True King of AEW ended up being assaulted by Orange Cassidy and Hangman Page, eating both their finishers as well as White's before scrambling out the ring with his stablemates.
It was later announced that Moxley would team up with PAC to take on the unlikely pairing of Jay White and Orange Cassidy on Dynamite: Winter is Coming. The matchup started chaotically as all four men battled on the outside before taking the action to the ring. However, The Death Riders maintained control over their opponents for much of the bout, displaying better tag team chemistry.
Toward the end of the bout, Cassidy, having dispensed with the interference of Shafir and Wheeler Yuta, seemed ready to take out Moxley. However, the bout ended in a disqualification win for The Purveyor of Violence and The Man That Gravity Forgot after Hangman Adam Page attacked the reigning AEW World Champion in the ring.
The Cowboy's involvement led to a brawl between him, OC, and King Switch, each with their sights set on Moxley's World Heavyweight Title. The latter and his group, however, took advantage of the situation to beat down their opponents before leaving the arena.
